Race skis are, as the name implies, designed for fast skiing. It is important to have a pair of skis, which allow you to race down the hills while maintaining precision, even when the snow conditions are difficult.

Skis for slalom, race and the piste

Race skis are also called piste skis since you can use them for most disciplines on the slopes. Some race skis are quite advanced, while others are easier to use. Race skis are designed for stability at high speeds, however, they can be challenging to maneuver. Because of that, they are best suited for advanced and expert skiers. These type of skis are also used on a professional level, for example at the world cup.

Race skis are for downhill racing, a competitive racing sport. Skiers who perform this sport on a professional level, carries special suits, which minimize wind resistance, and help the skier to gain high speeds. The slalom ski is used for the somewhat more technical sport slalom, where the skier has to move between obstacles while racing the slopes. However, you do not necessarily have to use your race skis for a specific sport, as they are suited for all who enjoys racing the slopes.

Carving ski

The race ski is often built as a carving ski with a narrow waist and a wider front. At the same time, it has a stiff construction to provide stability. Even though race skis are manufactured for the compact snow on the piste, a few of the new models have a slightly different construction, making them a bit easier to use off-piste as well. However, only advanced skiers should try this out, as it can be quite difficult.
