BMX mouthguards offer protection for your mouth and gums against impacts to the face while riding. They are constructed from shock-absorbing materials, which lower the risk of dental injuries and help in preventing concussions. Many riders tend to bite down on their teeth during landings or falls. This can be dangerous, as slamming your jaw shut might cause a concussion. Using a mouthguard can mitigate this risk.
Most BMX mouthguards you will find here are the “boil and bite” type, where you mold the guard to fit your mouth. To shape the mouthguard, let it sit in boiling water, take it out, and then bite down on it for about 30 seconds. This process may vary slightly depending on the product, so make sure to follow the instructions.
Another way to protect your face is by wearing a full-face helmet. You can find these in our BMX Helmets category.
