When selecting cruiser skateboard trucks, there are no strict rules on the type you must choose. You can opt for standard kingpin trucks, typically found on modern skateboards, or reverse kingpin trucks, usually used for longboards. Most smaller cruisers, however, feature topmount trucks, which are bolted underneath the deck.
Trucks on cruisers are often a bit looser compared to those on skateboards or longboards, allowing for quicker turning.
What Size Trucks Should I Get for a Cruiser?
A general guideline for cruiser trucks is to select a pair as wide as your deck. Typically, a size of 150mm will fit most cruisers best, though you can opt for sizes both larger and smaller. For more detailed information on the right size for your board, check out our Skateboard Truck Size Chart.
The size you choose is ultimately up to you, but it’s crucial to ensure sufficient wheel clearance. Trucks that are too large increase the risk of wheelbite and can diminish your cruising experience.
If you’re still experiencing wheelbite, consider getting some Cruiser Skateboard Risers.
