Segboard Safety Guide
It is important that your hoverboard is safety approved since cheap knock-offs on the market pose a risk to the consumer. At SkatePro all of our hoverboards have been safety approved. Read this guide to learn what to look for when buying a safe hoverboard.
Is it called Segway Board, Hoverboard or Airboard?
Various names are associated with the segway board such as hoverboard, balance board, airboard and segboard, but whether it is called one or the other does not matter, since the differences in the products appearance are often very small. However, in the interior parts of the segway board, there are differences of great importance to the user and his or her safety. You can read more about this in the following sections.
Segway boards in the media
Segway boards quickly became popular in the end of 2015 and came at the top of many children, young people and adults' wish lists. But as the media has focused on, there have been incidents where some of these popular segway boards have caught fire. Some manufacturers simply saw great opportunity in earning quick money by making boards as cheaply as possible and sell them at a lower price than the competition. In order to make them cheaper than other boards, some of these manufacturers chose to save money on safety and sell hoverboards with batteries and chargers that had a tendency to overheat and catch fire.
These incidents have caused insecurity among the segway board-users, as one could easily understand. However, there is no need to panic. Not all segway boards are dangerous. They come in different qualities as goes for many other products out there.
How do I know if my hoverboard is safe?
Since most hoverboards look alike on the outside, it is easy to think that all hoverboards are the same. This, however, is not the case. The components used inside the hoverboard can vary highly in quality and thus safety.
But then as a consumer, how do you know whether that hoverboard you just had your eyes on is safe or not? As a customer you are guaranteed a safe hoverboard, when the company can show specific certificates and safety approvals. That is why we at SkatePro have made sure to only trade safety approved hoverboards from the very beginning. See our certificates and safety approvals at the bottom of the page.
Furthermore, when you buy your hoverboard from SkatePro, it comes with an English manual. We also get our boards from an European supplier which provides our customers extra reliability and assurance.
At SkatePro it means everything to us to have customers that are active and have fun, but without getting hurt.
