Flying over water with kitesurfing

Kitesurfing or kiteboarding as it’s also called by some is a high-intensity sport, which offers you not only high speeds but also the possibility to make high jumps and do awesome tricks.

A kiteboarder takes advantage of the wind power by using a large power kite to surf across the water on a kiteboard which in many aspects can be compared to a wakeboard or a small surfboard. Kitesurfing can be done both with or without foot-straps or bindings on the kiteboard.

Kitesurfing equipment - What you’ll need to get going

So what do you need to get out on the sea? To start with you’ll need a traction kite also called a power kite. This kite comes in different designs and sizes.

You’ll of course also need a board for kitesurfing and a bar and lines to make sure, that you can control your kite. Furthermore, you’ll need a harness, a safety system, and other accessories such as a wetsuit, booties, lifejacket and a helmet.

The best way to get a hold of kiteboarding

As kiteboarding is a very fast-paced sport, it is crucial that you learn how to control your kite properly, before you jump into the water. That’s why we recommend that you either take a kitesurfing course or learn from an instructor or experienced kitesurfer.

Mastering your power kite and board will ensure you, that you’ll get a good first-time experience with kitesurfing. Furthermore, the ability to control your kite and your board is not only important for your safety, but also for the safety of other surfers, beachgoers, and bystanders.
