The Loctite 243 serves as a medium-strength adhesive for locking threads. It is intended for general use and is appropriate for all metal fastener assemblies. This means you can secure stainless steel to, for example, plated surfaces or aluminium.

The function of the lock is to assist in preventing loosening due to vibrations from riding. Despite locking the fastener, manual disassembly remains possible.
