My son wanted to learn how to skateboard, and we wanted to get him a decent setup. We made a really good choice with this deck. The ball bearings provide plenty of speed, and the bushings aren’t too easy to steer for beginners. I’ve heard cheap setups at the skatepark before, and this one sounds exactly as you’d expect—solid and not tinny.
After four 2-hour sessions at the skatepark, the deck did end up crashing into a concrete wall at speed during a bail. That’s when a 2-cm crack appeared in the grip tape, and only 2 of the 7 layers of maple were affected.
Before that, the deck had already been slammed into things a few times, accidentally. Since my son is a complete beginner who has never stood on a board before, and the deck has frequently been bumped into things while riderless, I find it very sturdy. We definitely recommend buying it, and thanks to the shop for the great prices!
